This was a crazy week. We had our usual mountain of GTR builds to work through, but I also got a call from Daniel at Premium on Sunday. He told me TJ Hunt was headed to a drift event with his 350Z, but the headlights were trashed and needed to be replaced, or possibly restored and modified.
I figured it was a great opportunity to hook up a kid I really like, and flex our restoration muscles (and by “our” I really mean Jack). What ended up happening was a bit more than I had any clue I was signing up for, but it did end well. Our friends at Morimoto suggested we upgrade the projectors with new Crystal Clear STi-R lenses, etched with TJs logo. We thought it’d be cool to feature the new XBT bluetooth controller along with some color changing Demon Eye LEDs that’d light up the logo from inside.
Shipping was delayed, but at the very last possible minute, UPS shows up with the parts, and I had to stay up till nearly 2am to complete the work that had to be done in time for my trip to San Diego the next morning. By 9:30 I was at ACG working on a full Carbon Fiber GTR equipped with a Ride Controller unit, Sequential Side Markers, and a really cool strobe unit for the headlights and tails. We can install these on anything now! So pumped on that.
The install at TJs was super cool, and the car looked great! All in all, one of the best Fridays I’ve had in as long as I can remember. I know we have some fun stuff planned for more work with TJs and his friends down in SD. Make sure you stay tuned for that!
