Today we Insulate my Garage door because it's been super hot! All This was done under $80 (+ a Jon to help, haha). My garage is my Work shop and I do not want to deal with the heat this summer so adding Insulation to the garage door was a MUST! about 15 degrees cooler now! Insane!
My Garage had 2 sized panels
Outer Panel - 47"x20"x1.5"
Inner panel - 42"x20"x1.5"

It's a hundred plus degrees outside me and john are dying in the workshop, so we're gon na go into home depot right now and show you a little hack that you can do if you're suffering from either extreme cold or extreme heat in your workshop. If that workshop happens to be a garage here, we go john. I don't know what to get what the heck do. I need.

I think we need some of these right here. I think it's four by two there's a bunch of four by twos how we need to do some math, really quick. So this that's fine, it's not gon na. Do anything it'll make it look more better, yeah, more better.

We found a video that showed exactly how to do all this stuff, but the guy didn't give you any numbers, so we're going to use one and a half inch foam, which is that stuff right there and we need four of them because we got to chop Them into little two by four sections and there's a grip that we need to do so and they're about 18, each 18 bucks each so yeah, that's! Ah it's that one! There we go so please go buy something off of fly, right. yeah! So we need you to buy a bunch of led bulbs, so i can afford this. Okay, okay, john, didn't get coveted buff! Oh, he looks buff make sure when you're lifting these, you use your knees. The plot thickens, because we have a minivan and we got a bunch of four by eight sheets that are bigger than the minivan.

So i have to take this here, north and slice all these things in half and i feel real stupid. But you get to laugh at me so good for you. You got to keep recording in case. I f up ah like that yeah, it's dry and dusty, and this is the stupidest feeling thing ever.

It's all right, it'll be worth it though i'm a positive man. No john, i feel kind of stupid chris. You are really stupid. Yeah john's right, i'm stupid, i'm getting close to being half done.

It's hot, i feel stupid uh. This has been not the most exciting video ever, but we are gon na. Take a quick little measurement. Where's that little guy normally this is like radiating heat right now.

It's actually much cooler later in the day, it's about 4 30.. So this normally reads at about 97 and this thing's a piece of crap from harbor freight, and i think it's about five degrees shy. So this thing normally is like pushing out heat this way like a hundred degrees or more inside of here, which means, if there's cool air in here - and we turn off the cool air for a second to shoot. This cooks, it off fast and all of a sudden, it's super hot in here we're hoping that this takes care of that.

Oh, that was ugly guys. If you ever need me to custom, make you something for your garage like this, then that would be stupid. I like to do things that i'm good at it makes my ego so happy. I was pretty good at that.

Come on baby. I know you can't. I know you can nice like a glove okay day, two of what i thought was gon na be fast and easy, but we do have good news, oh and by the way, i'm gon na do this in my jammies. What is this? Okay? Well, one thing: good came of screwing up and having so much extra look at this pile of stuff that we've got i'm gon na give that to the kids, all right check it out.
So we've got this guy saying 83 degrees and i don't even know i mean it's probably a little bit higher than that, but look over here. This is the last part we haven't done it yet. I have not finished that and look we're at 96 point stuff.

If that insulation had a foil liner on one side then the foil goes on the inside of the foam. The theory of heat insulation is that air is the best insulator, in this case the foam is the air and the foil reflects any residual heat. Steel door , air gap , reflective foil is the correct order. If the foil is touching the door its useless.

If there was no foil liner then line the inside with foil and dont let it touch the steel door in any part.

@FlyRyde Hello friend, I really like your videos, continue like this and you will go very far. I would like a question, will you give me your opinion? I am indecisive in buying some sequential led strips since you have tried them which one lights up more than day the sequential diode dynamic strips or the profile pivot switchback xsb? I would appreciate your help with this.

Like some one else mentions aluminum tape for the hinges and the sides of the garage panels will help to insulate as well

You should have the tension on your spring adjusted for the extra weight you added to the door. It will save your spring and your door opener. 👍👍

Don't forget to use aluminum tape along the ends of the foam not just to secure it but to block more heat out. Plus putting the garage door seal trim kit around the outside of your garage door trim will create a better seal to block out noise and outside heat. I can't add a pic to my comment but Amazon has it for like $20 n I highly recommend it.

That plastic you peeled off is meant to stay on…

I also added in a gable exhaust fan for the attic above garage. It has made a massive difference in the radiant heat that comes in from the ceiling.

I did the same thing, then did a layer of sound deadening, and then a layer of the silver insulation that looks like bubble wrap.

    It’s been great.
