To do this build, we pulled the bumper and headlights off the car, trimmed the lip from around the headlight lens, then pried it off the housing instead of just cutting into it. The halogen bulb in the low beam section was replaced by a Morimoto Mini H1 BiXenon Projector, which was also wired to the high beam. The stock high beam was disconnected, since the new projectors double as high and low beams mechanically.
The OEM dim Angel Eyes were completely removed, as was the original light source for them. Umnitza's high powered Orion V2 Angel Eyes were installed, along with a custom fit pair of LED "Switchback" bulbs.
In running light mode, the angel eyes and corner bulbs are bright white, while turn signals change the corners from white to amber. After the turn signal is over, the corners return to white.
This car was a trip. I opened the "impossible to open" headlights but cutting the entire lip around the headlight off with a saw, then working my way around the clear lens with a very thin, sharp flat head driver (that I stabbed myself with more times than I can count). Aside from all the blood I had to clean up off the lights, these came out super clean, very OEM.
They started out as halogen housings, but now have the e46 Shroud with Umnitza high powered LED Angel Eyes. These are probably also just about the only Switchback bulb equipped BMW headlights out there.
To power the bulbs I had to run a line from the tail lights to get the running lights to turn the bulbs white, and I fished a line from the fenders forward to power the Amber Switchback function.
This car is so smart it fought me the whole way, but I beat it into submission, and it looks HOT because of it, not to mention it performance like a champ now!

I've searched here and on Instagram and this is as close as I can find 🙈 why are these so hard to do? Is it just the car itself or is it a combination of every opening etc, really want to try to do something similar but if it's a nightmare it's probably not the best place to try and learn on 😂
what the night view looks like?
You Da Man 😎👍🙌
how did u run the wires from the ballast to the bulb connector?
hi.
How did you solve the "flash to pass" function?
As you said, you had to diconnected factory high beams. In this case, how do you flash, when the headlighst are off?
This is BMW magic! Thank you for the inspiration.
looks super clean. nice work bro
i hope there is a headlamp like this already made so i can just slap them in my 2011 328i
can you post a video or pics how to do this job or any place you know who does jobs like that ?
I own a 2011 BMW 323I, in canada, I would like to know if the SwitchBack LED bulb for the turn signals will be compatible with my car. At the moment I have a regular yellow turn signal bulb and halogen headlight. I already purchased a xenon headlight convertor kit. Is their more to it, then just purchasing the LED and switching it with the regular yellow bulb.
That's a 2011
Awesome. Great idea guys, make a headlight video in broad daylight
i like your headlights, please send me link of parts that you bought for this upgrade.
Thanks
