Wanna drive a bunch of Audi guys nuts? Go show off some crazy function to the DRL strip, in the form of Sequential Amber LEDs. The speed is adjustable, and the LEDs have been spaced out equally to fill the lower section of the bezel with 16 (8 Nichia White, and 8 Amber CREE) LEDs. Each LED is on its own channel, sharing common voltage and controlled using a very well built, well coded circuit board...(thanks Bryant!)
The Bezel and Shroud were actually repainted from a previous job where high temp oven paint was sprayed directly on top of the chrome. To patch this up, everything was sanded down, and all 64 holes were measured, marked, and drilled before paint. After they were ready, OEM NBA (Bathurst Black) 2 Stage paint was professionally sprayed and dried in the booth. Once back from paint, the Switchback Angel Eyes ($105.00) were mounted, and all 32 LEDs were installed, by soldering 2 wires to each one, heatshrinking the joints, and then sliding the wires into the previously drilled holes. From there, black hotmelt was used to secure them in place, after the wires were bent out of the way so the bezel could be installed back into clear lens. No small effort here, unless 72 wiring connections doesn't bug you like it does me 🙂
To wrap it up, the 1157 Switchback bulbs we sell were added in to tie it all together.
