The easiest way I have found to strip Chrome off of plastic is using ZEP Degreaser.
This stuff removes chrome fairly quick and no hassle!

Last time we're gon na see this thing chrome. So if i scratch this, you can see that it's black under the surface, this black stuff is called zep. It's industrial, concentrated degreaser. Look how crazy that looks.
