Bro! Blast etching is great! I have the same blaster as you (I use 80 grit aluminum oxide) and it works great! I have done everything from glass to "certain" coffee mugs to aluminum shifter handles. The vinyl you use makes the difference. A certain manufacturer with 3 and m in their name have the best blast properties. 3mil min is what you want, off brand vinyl can hold for lighter jobs or liquid etching but tend to peal up. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on the vinyl. I hope you and your watchers can take a good key from a viewer that has been there with etching. Thanks Chris, you're awesome and I hope I gave back to the community!

Chris, I wanted to try vinyl etching for some of my lense jobs, but was afraid of the heat from HIDs or Halogens warping or ruining the vinyl. Obviously you haven't had a problem? Is it a particular type of vinyl you use? Or are you just using the vinyl as a stensil to sand blast the lense?

I got a spiderman logo etched in my high beam and it looks pretty cool! Can you etch the Captain America logo?

Is it going to be difficult to compensate for the compound curve of the lens or are you going to only etch on flat surfaces? In my head the honeycomb pattern would get all wiggly if the vinyl isn’t applied perfectly.
