This is how to Customize Mazda RX8 Headlights.
This is part 2 of a 3 part video series working with our friends at Throtl in San Diego, for their RX8 Car Giveaway! Make sure to watch start to finish on this playlist to get all the info:
In the last video, I showed how you can use a Heat gun to perform the same process, only slower and less efficient. This video shows how to heat the lights at 220 degrees (Fahrenheit) for a total of 7 minutes, and safely remove the lens and all internal pieces.
On the next video, we'll show the modification process, as well as the trip back to San Diego.

couldnt you sand that section that touches. sand it back an 1/8inch before paint
Want a suggestion for foggy headlights. Three years ago I scuff them and painted them clear, now it’s peaking and looking like shit.
The greatest feat of the video is when he held his phone up for 5 minutes
Chris,
I found your channel trying to find video on how to replace the lens on my Audi A4 (B8) headlights.
Do you know, do I have to do this baking method for this car?
Love the videos!! Tehy are really helpful.
Just a little question: In french cars how are they sealed?
So why remove the trim??? Whats the goal here? Im lost. Is he adding something else later?
You know your stuff man. The best YouTube instructor I've seen yet. Thanks!
I must be clueless, ‘cause I haven’t the faintest idea WHY you’re doing this.
Stories are working looks a nice feature on here 👍 and are those running lights filling in from the side or was that a trick of the light ? Looked dam good either way
Perfect timing for my 09 rx8. Curious about this whole process and light design. I like how you want to spread the wealth and have us do our own thing of we want to start a business with this. Thanks! Keep it up!
I now you only do imports but it be cool to ok see a domestic headlight being done.
Hey Chris I've been following your stuff for a while, thanks for all the inspiration. I've run into an issue with my project and looking for a bit of help. I'm trying to get my tail lights open on my mazdaspeed 3, but I've heard from some people that they're plastic welded from factory. Is there anything I can do in this situation? I plan to significantly modify these housings (not even using oem lenses). Thanks for your help and all the insights you offer.
Amazing video can't wait for the next step.
I have hazing inside my lenses from HID'S. Can you do a video on how to correct them. Should it be coated after correction and with what if anything. Thanks for your videos. 👍
I know you dont reccomend it but how would I reseal my lights with a hear gun. My lights are to big for an oven
So the dirt and bugs that got into my headlight I can’t clean off the inside and put them back together?
I baked a set of Dodge Magnum headlights @ 220 for 15min every 5 minutes checking. There were no screws to remove just a wire harness. A lot easier than heat gun 👍
Love the video. Answered a lot of the questions I had. Would love to see/can’t wait to see a video of you painting the bezel of those lights (or any lights) and also how to officially seal them!
