EDIT: March 2015. Dont pry on your lights like this. This entire video is out of date. Also, please not these were heated at 250F, not Celsius. If you're wanting to modify your GTR headlights, please give us a call or email. It'll definitely result in a better finished product.
This video shows the process of unsealing the headlights for a Nissan GTR. NOTE: WE DID NOT SHOW THE 5 SCREWS BEING REMOVED THAT HOLD THE LENS TO THE BACKING, OR THE WIRING/BALLAST REMOVAL. It just shows the steps and an unedited start to finish removal of the clear lens from the back of the headlight. If you want to modify your headlights yourself, this is a great way to start 🙂

if you put an air line on the breather and force compressed air in at the same time it makes it easier

How long do you leave the light in the oven?

This is not in Celsius is it??

    In England we use Celsius….

Rip poor headlight, you did not deserve that fate 🙁

I use to do this on my STI lights. Resealing correctly means just heating them up again in oven before putting it back together. I found this made the seal good again, and did not require more sealant making a mess of the light.

nice work mate. is the clear lens plastic? im gonna try to separate a kawasaki plastic headlight in a week or 2 and ive only just come across your vid. im assuming thats factory PU type glue youre fighting with? any idea of the max time in the oven before shit starts to happen? cheers

And this is exactly why I'm sending you my lights. I don't have that kind of patience.

@speedfreak127 will doo! i have a great process involving reforming the prymarks to lay flat again with small clamps and a heat gun, then laying down a bead of rubber butyl before resealing the clear lens. After a good 10 sets of GTR lights i really started picking up new little gems of experience and tricks to share. Another video will be for modding the clear front winkers 🙂

You should add another video on how to properly reseal the light as resealing as I have heard is more troublesome.
