1. Nice job but you forgot one important step. All these plastic headlights come from the factory clear coated. The clear coat is what provides the plastic with UV protection. Once you sand off the failed clearcoat, that yellow stuff, the plastic will become opaque in a matter of a few months exposure without clearcoat.

4. I still prefer a body shop that uses the clear coat method but the key is to wet sand like he did, use wax and grease remover to clean it off and use 2 coats of 2k euro clear. Gives it a perfect crystal clear look. My 99 blazer headlights after 13 years looked brand new and after 5 years of being sprayed with the clear coat still looked brand new.

5. What about UV protection…? Without any, those headlights will yellow again pretty quickly. Most people use a clearcoat (either a 2k automotive clear, or a spray can that has UV resistance)

    If it was me – i would never go to this guy. He did childish mistakes:

    1. You should mask around the headlight, otherwise you will scratch the paint.
    2. Starting from 1500 grid will not remove rock chips. You should start way lower – 220.
    2.1 It is visible in the end that the grid scratches are well visible under light
    2.1.1 In order to make sure you dont get this, you need to grind up and down and back and forth.
    3. You cant just polish with a polisher without wrapping and smaller pads – you simply cant get to the very edges.
    4. Without PPF in the end, the effect will last 5 car washes and it will fade dramatically.

    5. As a bonus – get your wife a nice set of bulbs and new set of projectors. Those are already shot as far as reflectors goes. It's clear that the lens are all milky – thus the reflector is baked. Those bulbs are low quality. The should shine white, not blue. Get her a set of Yeakys or fit her D2S and get her Osram Laser.

13. That will soon gaze up again. Use PPF to seal! Closest thing to factory headlight clear coat. Lasts up to 5 years.

14. That will only last for like 6 months until you start seeing haze again. Best way is to wetsand and spray a 2k clear.

    Little secret just use Aluminum Polish and a buffer for a quick fix no sandpaper needed.
